Perhaps you know us as the "forever garden partners," Crys and Los... or perhaps you don't know us at all. We are Carlos and Crystal León - the husband and wife team behind "The Radish Hotel". Crystal has a background in nutrition and garden education. Carlos has a background in cooking and restaurateuring. We have both officially been gardening for over half our lives. Together and separately we've managed urban gardening projects, farm stands and have been on discussion panels across the country to advocate for food justice in low-income communities.
This is who we are. "The Radish Hotel" is what we have built.
Why "The Radish Hotel"?
The Radish Hotel is about our willingness to establish roots together (both literally and figuratively). During our season of dating, we both managed urban gardening programs in different parts of the city, teaching children how to grow food. In our respective programs, to help kids connect their hard work to a reward, we always started with the radish. Teaching that if the right conditions are created and if adequate attention is given, one can indeed grow something. The Radish Hotel is about a commitment to that process.
For us, it began as a deep desire to feed & nourish our family well (not only what we put in our bodies, but what we put on them), and it has blossomed into something that not only takes care of us but also takes care of our community.
